Black and Blue is back in session!
Moore Clinic is proud to serve our student athletes and their families through our "Black and Blue" clinics that are held each Saturday from 8:00am - 11:00am during football season. It is our commitment to see our student athletes within 24 hours of an injury in order to begin the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation process as soon as possible. These clinics allow players with non-emergent injuries during the week (especially Thursday or Friday) to come in and be evaluated by a Sports Medicine physician so that they do not have to wait an entire weekend to be seen. School athletes, and their parents, can take advantage of this service by contacting the athletic trainer at their high school or by emailing us at sportsmedicine@mooreclinic.com. No appointment is necessary, but we encourage notice from your school's athletic trainer or via email. We will turn no student-athlete away so if you have not pre-registered or scheduled a time, that is okay; come anyway!
The "Black and Blue" clinic is held at our Lexington office off of Highway 378 in Lexington. We are located at the Ambulatory Surgery Center on 104 Saluda Pointe Drive. Feel free to park in the front and use the main entrance in the front of the center.
Moore Sports Medicine
Sports medicine is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of injury or disease to athletes or as a result of some athletic activity. Many of these disorders are treated with arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical method that utilizes a small camera to look inside a joint along with specialized instruments to carry out any necessary surgery in that joint.
The practice of sports medicine is a coordinated effort with input from a physician, orthopaedic surgeon, rehabilitation specialist, sports enhancement specialist, and athletic trainer. The Sports Medicine Center at Moore employs a team approach to offering the athlete the most comprehensive services under the same roof in this region, in order to minimize down-time from activities and expedite the safe return to normal activity. Our physicians provide expertise in arthroscopy and sports medicine. They have experience in treating professional, college, high school and recreational athletes for a variety of athletic injuries including ligament tears, sprains and strains, and fractures. Our rehabilitation specialists and athletic trainers also work very closely with the physician and athlete to execute rehabilitation and training protocols to maximize functional recovery.
